About Dance 4 Your Life
Established by the Dizzy Feet Foundation and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, with the assistance of CRT/tanaka, in 2011, Dance 4 Your Life! is a national initiative to promote dance as a daily part of an active, healthy lifestyle. Dance is a fun and proactive way to get moving, to reduce the risk of heart disease, and to combat the obesity epidemic. Anyone, young or old, can dance anywhere, without need for a gym membership, good weather, expensive sneakers, or any equipment. So what’s stopping you? DANCE 4 YOUR LIFE!
About the Dizzy Feet Foundation
Dizzy Feet Foundation was founded in 2009 by Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman, Carrie Anna Inaba, and Katie Holmes to support, improve, and increase access to dance education in the United States. Guided by a board consisting of some of the most illustrious names in the American dance community, the foundation’s mission is threefold: (1) to provide scholarships to talented students studying at accredited dance schools, studios, or institutions; (2) to establish national standards for dance education and an accreditation program for dance schools in all of the major styles of dance; and (3) to develop, provide, and/or support dance education programs for disadvantaged children through and with local community organizations.
DFF offers scholarships to dance students through its Scholarship Program. Scholarships of up to $10,000 will be granted annually. The Scholarship Program guidelines and application process will be posted on the DFF website in the near future. DFF also aims to increase and standardize the quality of dance instruction throughout the United States by offering accreditation and/or certification to dance schools and studios in most styles of dance, including ballroom, contemporary, ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. DFF’s Accreditation Program will be known as the American gold standard of dance instruction and will ensure that students know that they are receiving high-quality dance instruction based on a national standard. In addition, DFF also sponsors, funds, and/or offers community-based programs which will expose children in low-income areas to the lifelong benefits of dance education.
About the Larry King Cardiac Foundation
The Larry King Cardiac Foundation (LKCF) was established in 1988 to provide funding for life-saving treatment for individuals who, due to limited means or no insurance, would otherwise be unable to receive the treatment and care they so desperately need. The foundation works in conjunction with hospitals throughout the nation to ensure that such patients receive proper medical attention. Doctors performing these surgeries do so at no charge. Hospitals are compensated only for the materials used. Hearts are repaired. Families are given another chance. Lives are saved.
The Larry King Cardiac Foundation is a non-profit organization funded from partner company grants, individual gifts and grants and net proceeds from annual gala events. The LKCF is affiliated with premier Cardiac Centers: Children’s National Medical Center and George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and LA County Hospital in Los Angeles, California, New York Presbyterian: The University Hospital of Columbia and Weill Cornell University Medical Center in New York, NY, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX, Pepin Heart Hospital and the The Congenital Heart Institute of Florida (CHIF) in Tampa, FL. The Larry King Cardiac Foundation has embraced an ambitious goal. We can, and we will, “Save a Heart a Day.” Our vital support network of physicians, hospitals, medical device companies and pharmaceutical companies have joined us in this landmark commitment to bring critical care to people who have simply run out of options. Saving lives, healing families, strengthening communities, one patient at a time… a heart a day.
